Two weeks ago, we had reported that Electronic Arts had announced a new game called Mirror’s Edge. However, this was at E3 2007 and EA DICE, the developers, had not revealed any details about it. Video games magazine Edge has now managed to get more info about Mirror’s Edge and it has been confirmed that the game is indeed NOT an FPS.
However, guns will play a minor role in the game. The game is highly influenced by parkour. In fact, they are calling the game a first-person action adventure title. And the character’s arms, torso and legs will be visible, which will enable the gamer judge their leaps as well as actions.
Not only that, if the character is running at full-speed, then the gamer will be able to see the character’s feet taking larger steps and the arms pumping, which will also affect the momentum of the character. Gamers will be playing as a ‘runner’, who is a member of an overground resistance movement fighting against a tyrannical government.
Mirror’s Edge is expected to release for the PS3, Xbox 360 and the PC in 2008. Well, the game sounds interesting, but for some reason, rather than Prince of Persia, I don’t know why am I remembering District 13?
